Secret Santa made 12 unexpected visits this year in Stow and Munroe Falls.
The Stow Munroe Falls Lions, in cooperation with Wal*Mart in Stow, provided a little relief to 12 randomly picked customers who had Christmas presents on layaway. With the Manager's assistance, following the guidelines set by our Lion's Club, recipients were chosen because of their residency in either Stow or Munroe Falls and also the fact that their layaway items consisted of presents for children only. Wal*Mart then selected the final twelve families and advised them of the contribution from the Lion's Club when layaway items were picked up. Thank you to the Management Team at Wal*Mart for their cooperation on this program.
In partnership with the Red Cross, the Stow Munroe Falls Lions sponsor local blood drives. The next blood drive is March 6th, 2013 at Holy Family Church on Kent Road. The hours are from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the lower hall.

Your Lions have provided a total of 352 free eye screenings.
The Stow-Munroe Falls Lions Club recently served the community by providing free eye screening to 125 pre-kindergarteners and kindergarteners in the Stow Munroe Falls area. In addition, the club has provided testing in surrounding communities. This project was adopted by the Stow Munroe Falls Lions as another way to serve our the communities and fulfills our mission to prevent blindness.. The process is of tremendous value because it helps to identify serious eye conditions in children while medical treatment is most effective at avoiding significant sight impairment and blindness. The eye screening process was completed using a Welch Allyn SureSight Vision Screener – testing for common vision problems, astigmatism, and anisometropia (unequal power between eyes). A second test was conducted to detect signs of stereopsis, or as the kids called it, the smiley face test.
For more information on the eye screening program, contact Dave Harlow at 330-688-6520 or email Dave at dmharlow61@aol.com.
The Lions prepare for the children to arrive for the testing.
